This webinar will discuss, “How do we ensure that AI developed to support and deliver care is trustworthy?” According to 117 experts from 50 countries convened by the FUTURE-AI Consortium, algorithms and engines must be Fair, Universal, Traceable, Usable, Robust and Explainable. In this seminar Dr. Grando explains this new international framework and its application in mental health and substance use disorder care.

Participants will be able to:

  1. Explain why ethical principles are essential in the design and evaluation of AI-based mental health applications
  2. Identify key components of the FUTURE-AI framework for ensuring trustworthy and human-centered AI systems
  3. Apply the FUTURE-AI framework to evaluate an AI-based mental mobile app for robustness

Dr. Grando is a Professor at the College of Health Solutions in Biomedical Informatics at the Arizona State University and an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. She has extensive postdoctoral training in biomedical informatics and holds a doctorate in computer science. Her main research interest is the development of systems that support the clinical decisions of clinicians and patients, with particular interest in information technology for patient empowerment in health care.
