Student Liability Waivers

The pandemic has disrupted education at all levels. One of concern is medical student education because of the requisite that students face patients in their clinical rotations. Some schools introduced liability waivers that students were required to sign to release the school should the student become ill as a result of a patient entcounter. Professor Esplin discusses the legality and the feasibility of releasing a school from harm in that instance. Looking ahead too, how does medical education change if patient contact is reduced for students to reduce spread of the disease.
Professor Esplin is an assistant  professor of medicine at University of North Texas Health Center.
